Getting Started With Corporate Entertainment Planning

When you think of corporate entertainment, you might have images of a husband and wife folk singing duo or an organ player wearing a bad red velvet tuxedo jacket. That might be the reality of corporate entertainment in the past, but things have changed.

If you are trying to decide what you will need for your next corporate entertainment event, there are a few things to keep in mind. The first consideration is your budget. What can you afford to spend, and what can you get for your money? The next consideration is who your audience will be. Is your office staff a group of young hipsters, or mid-aged folks who are hopelessly attached to the good old days?

Another big consideration is what you are trying to accomplish. Is your event designed to celebrate a milestone in the company? Are you planning the annual holiday bash? Or perhaps your event is an annual meeting when company objectives will be the primary objective. The main purpose of your event is one of the most important considerations in determining what direction you will want to take.

You have many options in how to plan your event. If you have a small gathering and you have a knack for planning events, maybe you can do all of the planning yourself. You will also find many people working as freelance event planners. These guys are pros, and can almost always deliver exactly what you are looking for.

Perhaps you are planning a large corporate event that will be attended by thousands of employees. In that case you might consider hiring a corporate entertainment production company. Extra large events are what they do, and you will be surprised what they have to offer you in their portfolio.

OK, once you have decided what you can spend and what you will need, it is on to deciding about the entertainment. Depending on your budget, the sky can be the limit. If you have a modest budget, you can almost certainly hire the most popular entertainers in your community. If you are planning a large event and hiring an entertainment production company, you will have the opportunity to hire some of the top entertainers in the world.

Sheryl is the office manager of a company in San Francisco with about 350 people. The company was growing steadily and the executive team wanted to reward everyone at holiday time. Sheryl decided to plan the event herself. A large tent was rented and put up on an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay. She decided on a Middle Eastern theme, complete with belly dancers, fire eaters, and with food catered by one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in the Bay Area.

Corporate events do not have to be stuffy or boring affairs. It does not matter whether you plan and execute the event yourself, or if you bring in professionals. What is most important is that you allow yourself to imagine a spectacular event that everyone will enjoy. Get creative and you will find corporate entertainment that will leave the office buzzing for weeks.
